An event marking the 30th anniversary of the Chamber of Auditors of Azerbaijan, alongside an international scientific and practical conference on “Development stages of audit: the path from compliance to strategic partnership and trust,” has started in Baku.

The opening ceremony began with the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, followed by the screening of a documentary film dedicated to the 30-year activity of the Chamber of Auditors.

Addressing the event, Chairman of the Chamber of Auditors Vahid Novruzov emphasized that the legal foundation for the establishment of an independent audit institution in Azerbaijan was laid with the adoption of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On Audit Service,” signed by National Leader Heydar Aliyev on September 16, 1994. He noted that the far-sighted policy pursued by National Leader Heydar Aliyev to establish independent audit as a crucial institution for Azerbaijan’s transition to a market economy and ensure financial transparency and accountability is being consistently and purposefully continued by President Ilham Aliyev in line with the requirements of a new historical stage.

Vahid Novruzov read out the congratulatory letter sent by President Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Chamber of Auditors of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

During his speech, the Chairman of the Chamber of Auditors reviewed the institution’s 30-year history, highlighting the significant measures implemented over this period to establish and develop an independent audit institution in Azerbaijan and integrate it into the global audit community.

The Chairman emphasized the special focus placed on applying international best practices and expanding professional cooperation in the Chamber of Auditors’ activities. He noted that the introduction of International Standards on Auditing (ISA) in 2010, the development and implementation of concepts aimed at advancing audit services, the attainment of full membership in the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) and the European Federation of Accountants and Auditors for SMEs (EFAA), as well as the establishment of professional ties with audit and accounting organizations in more than 40 countries worldwide, have made a significant contribution to strengthening the position of Azerbaijani audit within the international professional community.
